June 23, 2010 (Saskatoon): 2010 Green Crop Network Summer Workshop  

In conjunction with Saskatoon 2010, the GCN will co-host a mini-workshop on June 23rd, 2010. This year, sessions include Life Cycle Assessment, Sustainable Bioeconomies: International Aspects of Crop Production, International Agriculture, and Agriculture & Climate Change. These small interactive sessions aim to provide an overview of current topics in agriculture and climate change research. Participants are able to interact with key international researchers (e.g. Brazil, China, California and Canada) from various disciplines and backgrounds. The GCN also will co-host the Graduate student Professional Development session on Tuesday, June 22nd. This session will help underline the contributions that agronomists and soil scientists bring to society while providing information on potential career paths and skill development for young scientists. All attendees of the conference are welcome to participate in the workshop sessions.

Green Crop Network (GCN) Graduate Course (Winter 2010)

This course “Plants, Ecosystems and Climate Change” provides students with an overview of the factors leading to climate change and likely outcomes, the possible effects on plants, and the potential role of plants in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. The course will be offered via videoconferencing technology. 

GCN affiliated students who will be registering for the Winter 2010 GCN web-course are eligible to receive a GCN graduate course subsidy (up to $700) to attend this year’s AGM in Halifax.
